Part 3 - When the Holy Spirit Speaks to Women

Hello and welcome to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge! I’m Lisa Ann Spencer. This is part 3 of our series, When the Holy Spirit Speaks to Women . Let’s jump right into the book of Acts with a REVIEW of last week. We left off with the stoning of Stephen, which was a turning point in Israel’s history . Afterwards there was a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, so the disciples SCATTERED into the REGIONS of Samaria and Judaea, except for the 12 Apostles who remained in Jerusalem.   Philip the evangelist went into Samaria preaching the gospel of the kingdom.   Many Jewish men and women believed the message and were water baptized.   We read in Acts11:19 , that some of the disciples traveled as far as Phenice, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to Jews only . [See the previous blog for all the Scripture references to confirm these things for yourself.] 👉Note: There are 3 references to Phenice in Scripture: Acts 11:19, 15:3 and 27:12.   By comparing these,

Part 2 - When the Holy Spirit Speaks to Women

Hello and welcome to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge!  I’m Lisa Ann Spencer. Today we will begin our study, When the Holy Spirit Speaks to Women, where we left off in the book of Acts.  Grab your Bible, your favorite cuppa, and a journal to jot down some cross-references; and let’s dig into the word of God. Last week we pointed out the FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE WITHIN THE KINGDOM CHURCH , which involved a woman.  Ananias and Sapphira were put to death for their deceit, faithlessness, and resistance against the will of God.  The Holy Spirit spoke to Sapphira through the apostle Peter in Acts 5:8-9. The SECOND SIGN OF TROUBLE WITHIN THE KINGDOM CHURCH – “THERE AROSE A MURMURING” Read Acts 6:1 I bring this passage to your attention because it involves women , and it also helps us establish the CONTEXT for the book of Acts.   The Grecian widows were being neglected in the daily ministration (the daily distribution of food) which caused the Grecians to murmur against the Hebrews.

Hello and welcome to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge!  I’m Lisa Ann Spencer. Today we will dive into our new study titled, When the Holy Spirit Speaks to Women .   As I carefully explained in last week’s introduction , I am referring to God’s holy word, preserved in our holy Bible, written for us to read so that we may hear what the LORD has to say to us and learn from it. We will begin in the book of Acts and look at every reference where a woman is being addressed directly by the Holy Spirit, through the written and preserved word of God,  spoken by the Apostles and Prophets. FOUNDATION It is important for us to lay down a contextual foundation for the book of Acts.   The book of Acts is one of the most misused and misunderstood books in the Bible.   Acts is an historical account of Israel’s fall. Consider the Four Gospels, which covered Jesus’s earthly ministry to the nation of Israel.   They end with Christ’s ascension to heaven and Jesus’s instructions for the 12
