When God Speaks to Women Part 7

Hello and welcome to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge .  I’m Lisa Ann Spencer.   Before we jump into part 7 or our series, When God Speaks to Women , I need to make  corrections from last week. It is inevitable that I make mistakes.   We all do.   Some are as simple as reversing numbers in a Bible verse, or sometimes I say one word while thinking I have said another word. Most of you understand that, but an error is an error, no matter how small. In my videos, I type corrections into the description box when I am made aware of them. It is always a good idea to look in the description for corrections and links to other resources. There is a proverb, that says, Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. The more I speak, the more errors I will make, which is true for every human.   But, we also cannot allow that to be an excuse to hold our peace on every occasion. Consider what apostle Paul says, 1 Timothy 2:

When God Speaks to Women Part 6

Hello and welcome to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge!   I’m Lisa Ann Spencer. Today is Part 6 of the series, When God Speaks to Women . We are going to take a brief look at Sarah .   Last week we were in the middle of looking at all the references to Hagar , but God speaks to Sarah after He spoke to Hagar the first time.   It has been 13 years since God spoke to Hagar, when we read that God spoke to Sarah.   Genesis 18:15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh . So the challenge last week was to find the three spellings of Sarah in Scripture and see what we can learn from her. Using Blue Letter Bible, I found: Sarai – 17 times in 13 verses Sarah – 37 times in 31 verses Sara – 3 times in 3 verses Up to this point in the story, we have already covered ‘Sarai’.   Her name was changed in Genesis 16:15 and that name is never used again.   ‘Sarah’ is found 37 times from this point in Genesis 17 through Genes

When God Speaks to Women Part 5

Hello and Welcome to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge! I’m Lisa Ann Spencer.  This is part 5 in the series, When God Speaks to Women .  Thank you for joining me. We will jump right in to Hagar ; she is found 12 times in 10 verses.   Here are the search results: Genesis 16:1, 3-4, 8, 15-16 Genesis 21:9, 14, 17 Genesis 25:12 Agar is found in the New Testament 2 times. Galatians 4:24 Galatians 4:25 Last week we covered Genesis 16:1-7 , and we determined that the angel of the LORD who went looking for Hagar is God .   And why was He looking for her? Because she was with child by Abram, to whom God had made promises regarding his seed. Did you take the challenge and search for the location of Shur ?   Shur is found 6 times.   If you looked those up you probably discovered that Hagar was fleeing towards Egypt.   Check out these references to confirm that for yourself: Genesis 25:18 1 Samuel 15:7 1 Samuel 27:8 Let’s pick up Hagar’s story where we left off in Gen

When God Speaks to Women - Part 4

Hello and welcome back to the Women’s Weekly Bible Challenge! I’m Lisa Ann Spencer. Today we are continuing our series, When God Speaks to Women , Part 4. Last week we introduced the next woman addressed by God, which is Hagar . At first it may seem strange that God would address an Egyptian handmaid.   However, if you consider the circumstances, it is not surprising.   When God speaks to Hagar, she is with child by Abram, the man to whom God, on three occasions, had made a promise regarding his seed possessing the land of Canaan before he ever had any children. Genesis 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land : and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. And, Genesis 13:15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And, Genesis 15:4 … he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And we read this remarkable statement: Genesis 15:
